January 2024

10 years of our P!ensa Quality of Life Survey

In January, the 10th version of the P!ensa Quality of Life Survey was published. This instrument allows us to hear the opinions of neighbours on matters such as citizen security, transportation, work, housing, urban development, and other aspects relevant to quality of life of the residents of the Valparaíso Region.
On this occasion the results were quite discouraging, with a decrease in the quality of life of some emblematic municipalities (such as Concón), and a decline that is expressed more strongly in the region’s metropolitan areas, especially the challenges in terms of health, education and, above all, security.
It is important to consider that this survey is conducted face-to-face, with a sample of 1,650 cases applied in the 10 main municipalities of the Valparaíso Region.
You can find the results of the survey on Fundación P!ensa’s website and in the special reports section of El Mercurio de Valparaíso during the month of January.

First Activity with P!ensa Young Leaders 2023

In the first few days of January, the winners of the P!ensa Young Leaders 2023 had their first meeting, along with representatives of Mutual de Seguros de Chile (Chilean Insurance Mutual).
During a breakfast, it was possible to better get to know the 18 winners of the 8th version of the Valparaíso Region’s most important Young Leaders contest, their stories and the positive impact they are generating on their environment. We exchanged experiences and reflected through different perspectives of the worlds of entrepreneurship, culture, science, health, sports, education, and others.

Diálogo P!ensa: “Chile between the weight of the past and the challenges of the future”

Within the context of current conversations and reflections on the challenges faced by our country, we held the first Diálogo P!ensa of 2024.
Author, philosopher and academic Daniel Mansuy was interviewed by P!ensa researcher and UAI academic Tomás Villarroel. For 70 minutes, Mansuy travelled from the 70s to the present day, addressing our country’s political and educational challenges, in connection with his recently published texts.
